Participants Needed for Research Study

SLU faculty members Rebecca Lorenz, Ph.D. (Nursing); Enbal Shacham, Ph.D. (Behavioral Science and Health Education), Travis Loux, Ph.D. (Biostatistics), and Florian Thomas, M.D. (Neurology) invite adults with multiple sclerosis (MS) to participate in a research study to explore the role of body temperature on sleep using a smartwatch.

Requirements to join the study include age between 18 and 65 years with physician-diagnosed MS, who are able to speak and understand English.

Participants who quality for the study will be asked to meet with the researchers to complete six questionnaires about themselves such as age, mood, sleep quality and fatigue during a visit in their home or at Saint Louis University.

During that visit, participants will also be given a smartwatch to wear, a sleep diary to record sleep and wake times, and an iButton temperature logger to measure room temperature for the next seven days. The researchers will make an appointment to meet with the participant after seven days to pick up the smartwatch, sleep diary and iButton. At that time, the participant will be given a $25 gift card as compensation for their time.
