Charitable Computer Gaming Convention at SLU Seeks Volunteers

Laclede's LAN 17, a charity LAN (Local Area Network) party supporting STEM education in the St. Louis area, will be held Oct. 29-30 in the Busch Student Center. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The nonprofit organization is seeking volunteers to help:

Members of the SLU community are also invited to join up to 200 local PC gamers in casual and competitive gameplay (tickets required).

In addition to general gaming, there will be competitions in games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, Overwatch, Hearthstone and Rocket League. Everyone who attends is eligible for prize drawings: video cards, computer cases, monitors and more.

Byte Works, one of the charities benefitted by the event, will be collecting working peripherals such as keyboards, mice, speakers and especially computer monitors from the Wool Ballroom on Friday afternoon and Saturday. These peripherals will be donated to the organization to further their charity efforts.
