SLUstainability to Host Alternative Transportation Week Oct. 11-20
Alternative Transportation Week, which takes place during SLUstainability Month, will be held Oct. 11-20.
Members of the University community are encouraged to adopt one sustainable transportation action through our "Do One Thing" (DOT) campaign. Share your DOT on social media by using #SLUgreen16 or via SLUstainability’s online form.
Ideas to adopt during the week include:
- Register your bike with DPS
- Walk to your next destination by leaving a little earlier
- Limit vehicle idling to under 5 min to save on excess emissions
The week’s featured event will be the Alternative Transportation Fair, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, on the West Pine Mall near the Center for Global Citizenship. The fair seeks to educate students, faculty and staff about all the modes of transportation around and to SLU’s campus. Representatives from Metro Transit St. Louis, Great Rivers Greenway, RideFinders, Transportation Services and the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness will be available to share resources and answer questions.
The week’s other events include:
- All week: Alternative Transportation Scavenger Hunt: Win prizes by visiting locations around St. Louis. Find contest rules and the scavenger hunt online.
- Oct. 11: Find out how to carpool to campus and utilize ride-sharing during Carpool to SLU Day and RideFinders Lunch and Learn.
