Italian Studies Students Go Behind the Scenes with Art Collector

Students in the Italian Studies Program enjoyed a special tour of "Learning to See: Renaissance and Baroque Masterworks from the Phoebe Dent Weil and Mark S. Weil Collection" exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum personally guided by Weil.

Theresa Biggs, a long-standing adjunct in the Italian Studies program, organized a tour of the exhibit personally guided by Weil. The couple has collected many works from Medieval and Renaissance Italy for decades and recently donated their collection to the museum.

Students from the Italian studies and art history programs attended, along with Biggs; Italian studies faculty Claudia Karagoz, Ph.D., and Simone Bregni, Ph.D.; art history professor Cynthia Stollhans, Ph.D.; and Terrence Dempsey, S.J., director of the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art.

The exhibit will be on display until July 30.
