Community Service and Engagement Expands Partnership with St. Vincent DePaul Society
12/15/2017
As part of the GrowingSLU Initiative, Saint Louis University is continuing its partnership with the St. Louis chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society to place collection bins across campus.
The initial collection bin was placed around campus in the spring of 2017, outside the west pedestrian door of the Olive Compton Parking Garage. Now, four additional bins have been placed at the following locations:
- Laclede Parking Garage by the pedestrian door near Grand Boulevard and Laclede Avenue.
- Along Spring Avenue between Morrissey Hall and the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business.
- At the walkway between the Hickory East and West Parking Garages.
- At the Wald Parking Lot, underneath the old guard tower.
Employees and students are encouraged to donate clothing, accessories and household goods. SLU will receive eight to 15 cents per pound of donated items. The money collected will go towards supporting low-income SLU students through the recently established St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) scholarship.
All items donated are fully tax-deductible, and donors can request a letter from St. Vincent de Paul through SLU's Center for Service and Community Engagement. Direct contributions to the SVDP Scholarship Fund may also be made, and donations of at least $100 will be matched through the Go Further initiative.
