Volunteers Needed for Study on Children’s Screen Exposure
The Communications and Sciences Disorders program is seeking parents to participate in a study about perceptions of their child’s exposure to TV, computers, smartphones and other screen devices.
To be eligible, participants must:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 40
- Have a child between the age of 9 and 24 months who has no more than two siblings
- Have at least three screen-based technology devices at home that are used on a daily basis
Participant commitment includes:
- A one to two hour-long interview
- Completion of a seven-day log tallying how often the child is exposed to screen based technology
- A follow-up telephone or in-person interview that will last approximately an hour
Completing both interviews and the seven-day-log sheet may take approximately two weeks.
There is no direct benefit to the participants for taking part in the study. However, there may be a small benefit in the information gained from this research project. There is no compensation for participating in this study.
The research is conducted by Elizabeth Pope through the Communication Science and Disorders program at Saint Louis University.
