Second Presidential Scholarship Interview Weekend
Some of the nation's most gifted high school students will be on campus this week for the second Presidential Scholarship Interview Weekend.
The students will visit SLU Thursday, Feb. 16, through Saturday, Feb. 18, to interview for a Presidential Scholarship, which provides full tuition for four years. Faculty and staff are urged to help welcome these special visitors and their families to campus. Candidates for the prestigious award begin arriving on Thursday for an optional overnight stay in the residence halls.
On Friday, visitors will attend a class and have lunch with current Presidential Scholars. In addition, the candidates can opt to take a fun trolley tour of the city that includes the Central West End and Busch Stadium or an expansive tour of the SLU campus, including such must-see spots such as Pius XII Memorial Library, Simon Recreation Center and St. Francis Xavier College Church.
At 6:15 p.m., the weekend will officially kick-off with the President's Welcome Reception, giving interviewers an informal opportunity to meet the candidates. The reception will be held in the Atrium of the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business.
On Saturday, leaders from the St. Louis community as well as University alumni will join current Presidential scholars and SLU faculty and staff in interviewing the finalists. The division of enrollment management would like to thank everyone who volunteered to be an interviewer. This is the second Presidential Scholarship Weekend held in 2017. Over the course of this and last weekend, approximately 500 high school students will interview for the award.
