SLU Celebrates Expanded Partnership with Siteman Cancer Center

Saint Louis University celebrated its expanding partnership with the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center with an event at the Doisy Research Center Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Dale Dorsett, Ph.D., of the department of biochemistry and molecular microbiology, presented on his work that received a Siteman Investment Program grant in 2015. Faculty and leadership from Saint Louis University, Washington University and the Siteman Cancer Center attended the event.

The event highlighted recently funded projects as well as the new opportunities available to SLU researchers interested in working with the Center. SLU recently entered into a new Memorandum of Understanding with Siteman to foster this continuing relationship.

As part of SLU’s ongoing relationship with Siteman, faculty investigators have the option to compete for funding for pioneering cancer research under the center’s Siteman Investment Program (SIP). Awards made under this program are for seed funds to support pilot projects that produce data that can be leveraged in larger grants and research projects.

New solicitations for the program are announced twice annually in January and July.

Faculty interested in competing for these awards must be members of the Siteman Cancer Center.

Investigators interested in becoming members of the Siteman Cancer Center or in competing for SIP funding should contact Courtney Schlueter at schluc@slu.edu.
