Campus Parking, Traffic to be Affected by 2017 Move In
With new student move-in being held on one day, Wednesday, Aug. 23, faculty and staff are advised to avoid parking in the Laclede Garage, which will be used as an unloading zone for students in the Griesedieck Complex and Grand Hall.
A number of SLU surface lots will be used for move-in and will be closed to permit holders. Travel on Laclede Avenue will also be affected, including no westbound traffic between Grand Boulevard and Spring Avenue.
Laclede Avenue
Starting Tuesday evening and continuing through Thursday morning, Laclede Avenue — between Grand Boulevard and Spring Avenue — will be closed to normal traffic.
The westbound lane will be completely shut down to traffic, and drivers will not be able to turn west onto Laclede from Grand.
The eastbound lane will be open only to families with students moving into the Griesedieck Complex and Grand Hall and to permit holders planning to park in the Laclede Garage.
Laclede Garage
Once again, the visitor section of the Laclede Garage will be used as a staging area for students moving into the Griesedieck Complex and Grand Hall. After students have checked in and unloaded in the visitor section, they will move their vehicles to the main level permit section or roof-top level.
Laclede Garage permit holders may want to avoid the area altogether and park in the Olive/Compton Garage on Wednesday, which is expected to be extremely busy during move-in.
Permit holders with access to the Laclede Garage can only enter the parking structure going east on Laclede and using the cardholder-only entrance. Permit holders will be allowed to park only on the lower level of the garage. When leaving, they must use the cardholder-only exit, turning right onto Laclede.
Surface Lots
A number of surface lots will be closed to permit holders so that they can be used for students and parents to unload or park their vehicles. Permit parking will not be allowed in the following lots between 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, and 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
