Conflict of Interest Office Reminds Researchers to Complete Updates
In order to comply with University policy and federal regulations, the Research Integrity and Safety (RIS) Group in the Office of the Vice President for Research will be contacting researchers to request that they update two required items.
The items to update are:
- Refresher training related to the Financial Conflict of Interest (COI) in Research Policy is required every four years. Researchers can complete the training through the CITI Web site. The RIS group will send out additional instructions by e-mail.
- Personnel tables in the University’s Electronic Research System (eRS) for funded research projects need to be updated when there are changes to the individuals who are working on the project. Personnel tables record the names of those who are involved in sponsored research and regular updates help ensure compliance with individual research requirements. The RIS group will contact principal investigators and proposal helpers to update eRS records based on salary sourcing.
Individual researchers should amend their COI disclosure in eRS if they have any new financial interests or any changes to their 2016 disclosure. The 2017 COI disclosure will be sent out to the University community this summer.
For questions or more information, contact coi@slu.edu or call Libby Tempel, COI manager, 314-977-7047, or Rita Skiba, graduate assistant, 314-977-6242.
