Mail Room Issues Guidelines on Metered Mail

The Mail Room has issued guidelines about using staples and clasps on outgoing metered mail.

Staples and clasps should not be used when mail must be metered because they can cause meter machines to malfunction. In some cases, clasps and staples have the potential to injure mail room workers.

For clasp envelopes, the Mail Room recommends keeping the clasp flat and folding the envelop flap over it completely.
