John F. Kavanaugh, S.J./Walter J. Ong, S.J. Bicentennial Lectures
The Department of English and College of Philosophy & Letters will hold the joint John F. Kavanaugh, S.J./Walter J. Ong, S.J. Bicentennial Lectures, on Thursday, Sept. 20, in the Sinquefield Stateroom, DuBourg Hall 409.
The events begin at 2 p.m. with an overview of the Ong Digital Archives (Byron Gilman-Hernandez), followed by a film on Walter Ong (James Scott).
At 3 p.m. Steve Schloesser, SJ (Loyola University, Chicago) will present the keynote address, "The Pressure of the Word: Presence and Distance in Walter J. Ong's Secondary Orality."
