New Virtual Tour Brings SLU's Campus To Prospective Students

01/19/2018

Prospective SLU students now have the opportunity to tour Saint Louis University’s campus from the comfort of their own homes, whether in St. Louis or Shanghai. The University’s new virtual reality walking tour, hosted by YouVisit, will give all students and their parents the chance to navigate campus at their own pace before coming to see it in person.

Virtual Tour

A shot of the tour that virtual visitors to SLU's campus will experience through the app.

This tool was designed with SLU’s international population in mind as many international students do not have the opportunity to visit campus before they enroll.

“We believe the YouVisit tour will be a very powerful recruiting tool,” Tim Hercules, executive director of INTO SLU said. “The virtual tour will help students feel connected to our campus even if they do not have the chance to visit before confirming.”

The virtual tour is designed to resemble an in-person campus tour. Much like traveling in Google street view, students can virtually walk down West Pine to the Lipic Clock Tower Plaza; hang out on the Quad; and can enter buildings like the Pius XII Memorial Library, Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business and the Center for Global Citizenship. At each of the 18 tour stops, viewers get a sense of the university and life as a Billiken through 360 degree views, interactive hotspots, videos and photos.

As they explore, students can listen to a virtual tour guide who provides details about each location in English, Arabic or Chinese.

Current SLU students were filmed for the English version of the tour and include:
