Happiness and Why It Matters
Saint Louis University's Happiness and Well-Being Project will host "A Priest, a Psychologist and a Philosopher Walk into a Concert Hall," Wednesday, May 23, at the Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Boulevard.
The program will be emceed by philosophy professor and research project head Dan Haybron, Ph.D. and will feature three noted experts discussing various aspects of happiness.
- Ed Diener, Ph.D., distinguished psychologist known as the world’s leading authority on happiness, will present the latest word from the science of happiness.
- Valerie Tiberius, eminent philosopher, past president of the American Philosophical Association (Central Division) and author, will highlight the place of happiness in a good life.
- Ted Vitali, C.P., from SLU’s Department of Philosophy, will offer a third perspective on a key source of happiness – love.
The public event is part of a conference that convenes 21 research teams funded by the Happiness and Well-Being Project from around the world and will be one of the largest-ever gatherings of leading happiness researchers from diverse fields of study.
