Café Fresh, on the ground floor of the Salus Center, was created through a partnership between Doisy College of Health Sciences (DCHS) and the College for Public Health and Social Justice.

“My goal is to have Café Fresh grow and really become a preferred dining option for the people in the Salus Center and surrounding buildings,” Xiao Liang, sous chef in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, said. “Our customers can rely on us to provide quality meal options every day.”

Café Fresh will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will serve breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The breakfast menu will consistently feature eggs, bacon, hash browns and bagels while having a couple daily specials.

The lunch menu will consistently feature soups, salads, sandwiches and fruit and vegetable options while also having a daily special.

Both of the colleges involved saw great potential in the kitchen space in the Salus Center and wanted to provide another dining option on the southern part of campus that offered fresh, healthy meal choices. The Salus Center kitchen and dining space underwent an ambitious renovation project prior to opening Café Fresh to attempt to make the café a destination where customers want to sit and dine in.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics also operates the popular Fresh Gatherings Café in the Allied Health Professions Building.
