Learning Community Program Hosts Fourth Annual LC Ed Talks
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the Learning Community Program at Saint Louis University hosted the fourth annual “LC Ed Talks.”
A total of 280 students attended this event and engaged in cross-disciplinary academic discussion.
This event was a faculty-led community experience for the Learning Community Medallion Program. By attending Medallion program events and completing the program, Learning Community students can earn a medallion, which features a fleur-de-lis and can be worn at graduation.
Three faculty members from different disciplines affiliated with the Learning Community Program gave short presentations and participated in a brief question-and-answer session following their talks.
- Ronaldo Luna, Ph.D., department chair of civil engineering in Parks College of Engineering, Innovation and Technology, presented “A Civilized Mission”
- Blythe Janowiak, Ph.D., associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, spoke on how “Glutathione Synthesis Contributes to Virulence of Group B Streptococcus"
- Chris Prener, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, discussed “Defending Urban Space: Systematic Street Closures in St. Louis”
