SLUCare Marks Milestone

SLUCare hosted an open house on Thursday, Sept. 6, for its new SLUCare Central office, which was created to make it easier for patients to get the medical care they need from the appropriate SLUCare provider.

Scheduling, referrals and authorizations to see a SLUCare specialist or have a procedure will be handled centrally by staff who will work the new facility.

About  200 guests from Saint Louis University, SLUCare and its hospital partners got an early look at SLUCare Central, located about two miles from campus at 1831 Chestnut in downtown St. Louis.

Staff were chosen for SLUCare Central based upon their specific skills in patient scheduling, master scheduling, referrals and prior authorizations. About 30 staff members will move to SLUCare Central the week of Sept. 17.

The transition will occur in waves, with staff from departments and divisions joining about every five weeks. The staggered schedule will allow for training, mentoring and testing to make the transition as smooth as possible. The process is expected to be completed in July 2019.
