SLU Black History Month Events Get Underway

Renowned opera librettist, author and actor Kasi Lemmons kicked off Saint Louis University’s celebrations of Black History Month 2019 with a book talk on Friday, Feb. 1. The talk is one of a series of events celebrating African-American culture and history on campus.
The African American Studies Program and the Black Student Alliance (BSA) are hosting a series of events through the end of the month. The month’s event series celebrates the 400 years of African-American vision and struggle in the United States.
Lemmons’s talk was sponsored by the Saint Louis University Library Associates and was moderated by Jonathan Smith, Ph.D., vice president for diversity and community engagement.
