SLU Culinary to Host Study Day Pop-Up
05/02/2019
Juniors from SLU’s Nutrition and Dietetics Culinary program will serve arepas and fries at a study day pop-up event. The pop-up will be held from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Clocktower.
Arepa is a traditional South American corn cake. They are often stuffed with a variety of toppings. Diners will have a choice of three different preparations:
- Steak arepa based on a traditional street food Pepito
- Homemade chorizo arepa
- Vegan arepa which includes umami beans and purple cabbage slaw
Plantain fries will also be available. These will be Belgian-style fries, made with plantains instead of potatoes. The fries will be served with a variety of dipping sauce options, including Toum, Chimichurri, smokey ketchup and spicy salsa.
Cold brew coffee and dessert will be available for purchase as well.
Arepas are $5 each. A combo of arepa, small fries and beverage is $10. Cash and credit card only.
