University to Mark 'Occupy SLU' with Events Series

The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement, Cross Cultural Center and Diversity Leadership Cabinet will mark the fifth anniversary of Occupy SLU with an events series beginning Monday, Oct. 14.
Series Events
MLK Commemorative Reading
- The University community will read and reflect upon the 1964 speech delivered by noted Civil Rights leader the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at SLU. The reading will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, in the Cook Hall Auditorium.
#ThisIsOurSLU Teach-In
- The teach-in will be an opportunity for the campus community to learn about the legacy of Occupy SLU while raising awareness about the experiences of marginalized identities on campus through peer dialogue and storytelling. The teach-in will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Lipic Clock Tower Plaza.
Whose Streets Chat and Chew
- The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement will host a screening of the documentary, Whose Streets? from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, in the auditorium of the Center for Global Citizenship. The screening will also feature a guided discussion with questions.
