SLU Employees Give Back on Staff Service Day

10/22/2019

More than 50 staff members from across the SLU campus took time out of their days to give back to others in the St. Louis community as part of the second annual Staff Service Day sponsored by the Division of Human Resources’s Cura Program and Center for Service and Community Engagement.

Staff members from the North Campus gathered in the Saint Louis Room in Busch Student Center to create no-sew fleece blankets for the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation. The 90 blankets will be distributed to patients at the pediatric children’s hospital.

The foundation provides the financial support necessary for delivering exceptional health care, in state-of-the-art facilities, to all children in need of care.

SLU medical students and SLUCare physicians provide world-class care to the patients at Cardinal Glennon and SLU and the hospital have been long standing partners.

SLU employees who served on the South Campus created and decorated 20 bags for GiFT: Giving is a Family Tradition at the Allied Health Profession Building’s multipurpose room.

GiFT is an organization dedicated to helping families with children in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and providing comprehensive support to all families with critically ill newborns. Families leaving the NICU will be sent home with goodies and supplies in the bags created by SLU’s volunteers.

Established during SLU’s bicentennial year, this half-day of service for staff offers departments and divisions the opportunity to engage in community outreach while strengthening relationships among colleagues.
