Staff, Faculty Volunteers Needed for MLK, Presidential Scholarship Weekends
01/16/2020
Faculty and staff volunteers are needed to assist with three interview weekends for two freshman scholarships, the Presidential Scholarship and the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship, in February and March.
Volunteers will serve as interviewers and will aid in the recruitment of the University’s fall 2020 freshman class.
Because the scale of each scholarship weekend requires the involvement of so many individuals, faculty and staff participation is essential to make each event a success.
About the Scholarships and Interview Weekends
The full-tuition Presidential Scholarship is awarded to a select number of SLU’s most qualified freshman applicants. This year, the University will invite approximately 500 or more students to interview for the Presidential Scholarship during the course of two consecutive weekends.
- Interviews will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 29.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship is awarded to students who are committed to promoting diversity in society. Awardees must demonstrate leadership in multicultural, school or community activities that espouse Dr. King’s ideals and present a vision to increase diversity on SLU’s campus.
- Interviews for this scholarship will take place on Saturday, March 28.
Each program also will feature a Friday-evening reception that gives interviewers an informal opportunity to meet the candidates. Breakfast and lunch will be served at each event.
