HR Offers Tips for Voting by Mail-In Absentee Ballot during the Pandemic

The COVID-19 Response Team in the Division of Human Resources is sharing information about voting via mail-in absentee ballots in upcoming Missouri and Illinois elections.
Many states are making it easier for citizens to vote by mail this year due to concerns about the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Every state’s election rules are different a link to each state’s voting rules, provided by the federal government, is available here.
Voting in Missouri
- Missouri recently changed mail-in absentee voting rules for the 2020 August primary and November general elections. All Missouri voters will be eligible to cast ballots by mail as long as they have their ballot notarized.
- Wednesday, July 22, 2020 is the last day to request a Missouri absentee ballot by mail for the August election.
- “Drive-thru” notary events have been occurring in St Louis in the month of July for those whose ballots must be notarized. A completed ballot and photo identification are required.
- Two more events are scheduled this month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Grace United Methodist Church, 6199, Waterman Ave., St. Louis; and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 25, at Schroeder Park, Manchester, MO.
- Voters in at-risk categories for contracting or transmitting COVID-19 are eligible to vote by absentee ballot and are not required to have their ballot notarized.
