Still Time to Donate to Virtual Blue Santa Fund Drive

Dec. 4 Update: The virtual fundraiser has collected over $20,000 in donations so far, allowing SLU to expand its list of recipient non-profits. The deadline for donations is Dec. 19

Blue Santa, Saint Louis University’s beloved holiday hero, is asking for help this year as the precautions needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic mean getting creative with his annual toy collection.

The Hospital Medicine Section contributed many bags of toys towards SLU's Blue Santa program and had fun getting pictures taken with Blue Santa. As he marks 15 years of making the holidays brighter for children across the St. Louis region, Blue Santa is seeking funds in place of toys this year. Traditionally, the SLU community donates more than 3,000 toys during the University’s on-campus toy drive.

This year, the drive is online and fund-only. It runs through Thursday, Dec. 10.

Learn the Legend of Blue Santa

In place of the thousands of dolls, cars, puzzles and books Billikens usually donate, Blue Santa is seeking to raise $5,000 to allow partner agencies to purchase items from toys to coats to distribute to children in need.

In the spirit of the upcoming season, the University has made Blue Santa’s drive a priority for Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
