Parks College to Virtually Celebrate National Engineering Week

Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology at Saint Louis University has been celebrating engineers for many years. This year, Engineering Week will be entirely virtual and will run from Monday, Feb. 22, through Friday, Feb. 26.
The week will consist of events geared towards both Parks College students and the general public. Events include:
Monday, Feb. 22
- The Innovation Testing Challenge begins. Students can pick up their kits at the Dean's office and will return their designs on Friday.
- There will be a t-shirt drop for Parks students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rotunda of McDonnell Douglas Hall.
Tuesday, Feb. 23
- E-Week Keynote Address. Dennis Muilenburg, former Boeing CEO, will present on his career and interests in engineering. Following the presentation, Parks College students will have time to ask questions. The webinar will be held from 7-8 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 24
- Parks College is hosting a movie night from 7-8 p.m. on Zoom. Students can stop by the Dean's Office during the day to pick up their movie-watching kit.
Thursday, Feb. 25
- Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day – Hosted each year during Engineering Week, the event usually includes lab visits and hands-on activities. This year’s event will be a webinar, held at 10 a.m. Register here.
- Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day Keynote – the speaker will be Parks graduate student Crystal Bell. Bell graduated with a degree in civil engineering last May. She currently works with the WATER Institute and is an integral player in the student organization Billikens for Clean Water.
Friday, Feb. 26
- Billiken Beams – High school teams from the St. Louis area design, construct and test the most efficient balsa wood bridge. Bridges will be tested in a head-to-head, bracket-style competition. Tune in at 2:30 p.m. to watch the competition.
- Parks students will attend a webinar to have their Innovation Testing Challenge projects judged. The winners will receive an e-gift card.
