University Writing Services (UWS) Workshops
02/02/2021
UWS considers faculty, staff, adjuncts, graduate assistants, and student groups their partners in fostering a culture of critically conscientious writers on campus.
Instructors who teach under/graduate classes that incorporate writing skills into the curriculum, may want to add one of the following workshops to their course schedule:
- Introduction to University Writing Services
- Formatting and Citations (APA, CMS, MLA)
- Plagiarism, Paraphrase, Quotation, and Summary
- Productive Peer Review
- Reflective Writing
- Thesis Statements
- Other (Subject to Coordinator Approval)
These workshops range from 15-50 minutes. They can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the course and will be facilitated by an experienced writing consultant.
Please note that all workshops end with a brief description about the FREE a/synchronous writing services offered on campus so that students are more likely to make an appointment outside of class.
Workshop facilitators also quickly instruct students on how to create appointments using EAB Navigate (located under the Tools tab of the mySLU portal).
To formally request a UWS workshop, please complete the following Google Form.
For Spring 2021, the majority of UWS workshops will take place via Zoom. However, depending on the circumstances, some experienced writing consultants may be able to offer in-person workshops for classes that meet on the ground as opposed to a virtual environment. Preferences for location can be made on the Google Form. All requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
