SLU to Begin Migrating to New IT Authentication Solution on February 1
01/14/2021
Saint Louis University will begin migrating to a new IT authentication solution, known as Okta, on Feb. 1, 2021.
Benefits You Will See
Once you have activated your Okta account, you will see the following benefits:
- You will be able to perform password resets, including resetting a forgotten password, without calling the help desk.
- You will be able to use spaces in your password, enabling the use of an easy-to-remember proper sentence as your password.
- Your SLUnet ID password will no longer expire every six months.
What You Can Expect
On Thursday, Jan. 28, you will receive an email from ITS Communications (itscommunications@slu.edu) with specific instructions as to how you will create your new SLU Net ID password and multi-factor authentication options.
Between Feb. 1-19, you will receive an email from the IT Service Desk (ask@slu.edu) with a "Reset Password" button, which will allow you to establish your password in the Okta web portal.
Over the next three months, either SecureAuth or Okta will authenticate your access to applications (such as mySLU), but your new SLU Net ID password will be the same for both.
If you have any questions regarding our new authentication solution, please contact the Information Security Office at SLUAware@slu.edu.
