1818 Community Engagement Grant Projects Announced

11/11/2021

Projects submitted to the 2021-22 cycle for the 1818 Community Engagement Grant program have been selected. A committee of faculty, staff members and students reviewed applications, and several of the projects are already underway.

Projects include providing post-pandemic mental health resources for families, hands-on STEM education for youth at local schools and community centers, and care packages for new or expectant mothers. In total, 27 campus departments and organizations are working with more than 30 community partners in the St. Louis region.

The 1818 Community Engagement Grant Program was launched in 2018 as part of the University’s bicentennial celebration to honor SLU's history of giving back. It empowers students to self-author their own experiences related to service and social action, and to date has impacted over 3,000 St. Louisans.
