Dean of Students Steps into New Leadership Role
Saint Louis University’s Dean of Students, Donna Bess Myers, will soon step into a new leadership role on campus as she plans to step away from her current position due to increased family responsibilities.
Sarah Cunningham, vice president for student development, shared that Myers will soon become a senior advisor for the division, overseeing staff onboarding and development, acting as a liaison for critical campus partners and helping create a landing point for graduate students seeking services on campus.
Known affectionately by students and colleagues as “Dean Donna,” Myers has worked at SLU for 25 years –– always in the service of students. Her journey to become the Dean of Students passed through almost all parts of Student Development.
“During my tenure at SLU, I have been blessed to serve in various roles, meeting people who are now my chosen family along the way,” Myers said. “I look forward to serving the University I love in a different capacity.”
A search for the next dean of students will launch in the coming weeks.
“Donna is a really important part of the fabric that supports our students here at SLU,” Cunningham said. “A mentor to many and a friend to all. I cannot thank her enough for staying with our team to explore this new opportunity together, and I am grateful for her investment in our University.”
Myers will continue to serve as dean of students until the forthcoming search is complete.
