Fall 2022 Move-In: What to Know
08/16/2022
Saint Louis University is set to come alive this week with the newest Billikens starting their college journey and arriving on campus for Fall Move-In.
First-year student Move-In will take place Thursday, Aug. 18 through Friday, Aug. 19. Returning SLU students will move back to campus Sunday, Aug. 21.
Detailed information about Move-In day, including time slots, can be found on the Housing and Residence Life website.
COVID-19 Testing, Policy
The University has a series of COVID-19 mitigation efforts to support the health and well-being of all Billikens. The mitigation efforts were outlined in a message from Terri Rebmann, Ph.D., special assistant to the President.
-
SLU will not be requiring asymptomatic surveillance testing of our residential students when they return to campus this month. However, all students are expected to obtain a COVID-19 test prior to moving into an on-campus residence.
-
For students who wish to get a test on campus during move-in, COVID-19 testing will be available at the Simon Recreation Center basketball courts on Aug. 18, 19, 20, and 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-
Face masks are only required in healthcare or clinical settings where patient encounters are likely. Face masks are optional in all other campus settings, with the expectation that the SLU community will live its Jesuit values during interactions. That means wearing a mask around someone else who chooses to wear a mask in individual settings.
-
Once again, vaccinations are required for all employees and students who will be physically present on SLU’s St. Louis campuses this fall semester.
Move-In Answers
-
Members of Oriflamme, the Department of Housing and Residence Life and resident advisors (RAs) will all be waiting to help arriving new Billikens and their families. Additionally, other staff members and student volunteers will be on hand to help with Move-In matters, directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, holding doors and managing elevators.
-
For any maintenance issues, including things like electrical or heating/cooling issues, in an on-campus residence hall or apartment, contact Facilities Services at 314-977-2955 or submit a facilities service request through MySLU.
How to Get Around During Move-In
-
Traffic will be heavy on the streets surrounding campus on Move-In days. Faculty, staff members, students, and other campus visitors should plan for extra time to get to and from campus locations.
-
Travel on Laclede Avenue will also be affected, including no westbound traffic between Spring Avenue and Grand Boulevard on Thursday, Aug. 18, and Friday, Aug. 19.
-
SLU community members who are not taking part in Move-In activities should avoid using Laclede Avenue during the week of Move-In.
-
Owners of vehicles parked in Laclede Garage after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, through 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, will be asked to relocate their cars overnight to allow for the next day’s arrivals.
-
Drivers should watch the road for extra pedestrians and golf carts, and proceed cautiously and slowly, as more people will be crossing streets on and around campus.
