Student Development Seeking Move-In Volunteers

08/12/2022

As Saint Louis University prepares to welcome hundreds of new Billikens and their families to campus next week for a new academic year, the Division of Student Development is seeking volunteers to help make this year’s fall move-in a success.

New student move-in will be Thursday, Aug. 18, and Friday, Aug. 19. There are a number of volunteer opportunities over those two days to help ensure that move-in is a smooth and welcoming experience for SLU’s newest Billikens.

All volunteer opportunities are outlined on the Fall 2022 Move-In Volunteer Sign Up form. When selecting a shift and time block on the Google Sheet, please enter your first name, last name, and email address in the correct cell. There are tabs on the sheet for each new student move-in day.

Helping students and families move into residence halls isn’t the only way you can assist next week. There will be a Parent and Family Hospitality Headquarters in Busch Student Center to serve as a one-stop resource space for families looking to take a break from move-in, cool down, grab a quick snack, or meet SLU staff.

Headquarter volunteers will join colleagues from the Student Development division in greeting and welcoming new families, offering directions to locations on campus, suggesting great places to eat or visit in the area, and answering general questions about the Fall Welcome Schedule

After new student move-in concludes, there are select Fall Welcome activities where additional support also is needed, including Convocation and the Spirit Competition on Saturday, Aug. 20, and the Paint SLU dance party on Friday, Aug. 26. You will find Fall Welcome volunteer opportunities listed on the FW 22 Volunteer Sign-Up form

Once classes begin, additional programs through the Student Involvement Center (SIC) also need volunteer support, specifically the Panhellenic Council Recruitment process from Friday, Sept. 9, to Sunday, Sept. 11.

Volunteers will assist potential new members in submitting their party selections and membership agreement. Training will be offered in advance, and the SIC will provide meals.  Check out the Panhellenic Recruitment Volunteer Sign Up form for available opportunities.
