Atlas Week Program Seeking Volunteers for Human Library Project

02/17/2022

The Atlas Program is seeking volunteers interested in becoming a book for Atlas Week's edition of the Human Library project.

The purpose of the human library is to create space for "readers" and "books" to engage in dialogue and personal conversations that challenges stigma and stereotypes of various identities, lifestyles, and experiences.

A book is someone who volunteers to represent a stigmatized group in the community and based on their personal experiences can answer questions from readers to help challenge what is being said/told/understood about a given topic.

Topics and experiences can range anywhere from race, ability and disorders, religion, culture, alcoholism, body modifications, sex and sexuality, refugees and immigration, living in the U.S. as an international citizen, activism, homelessness, etc.

To become a book, apply online. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 4.

The 22nd annual Atlas Week is April 3-9. For questions, please email Luella Loseille
