Bridge Lecture Will Be February 24

The SLU 2022 Bridge Lecture will celebrate the 10th anniversary of lectures bridging Black History Month and Women's History Month. The virtual lecture will be Thursday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. on Zoom.

The guest speaker will be Jessica Marie Johnson, Ph.D. For the Zoom link and password, register in advance

Johnson is an assistant professor in the Department of History at the Johns Hopkins University and a fellow at the Hutchins Center for African and African American Studies at Harvard University. She also is the director of LifexCode: Digital Humanities Against Enclosure. Johnson is a historian of Atlantic slavery and the Atlantic African diaspora. She is the author of "Wicked Flesh: Black Women, Intimacy, and Freedom in the Atlantic World."

The lecture is sponsored by the Department of African American Studies, SLU's Mellon Grant, the  College of Arts and Sciences Office of the Dean, and the Women’s and Gender Studies Department.
