Ignatian Conversation Will Be February 16

02/04/2022

An Ignatian Conversation with Fr. Steven Schoenig, S.J., SLU Professor and Rector of the Bellarmine House of Studies, and other Jesuits will be the next event in the Mission and Identity spring series.

SLU has a number of Jesuits in many stages of formation, including a House of Studies for for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year Jesuits. Schoenig will talk with about Jesuit formation, a process that can last 15 years or more. Schoenig also will introduce two Jesuits who are in formation at Bellarmine, and will share their vocation stories and how they see all things new in Christ this Ignatian Year.

Meeting and discussion will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at noon. Anyone interested in attending should register in advance. Registration could also be done by emailing jesuitmission@slu.edu. A Zoom link will be sent the day before the event.

May 20 of 2021 marked the 500th anniversary of the cannonball injury that led to St. Ignatius of Loyola's conversion from nobleman and soldier, to pilgrim and spiritual master. To commemorate this, the Society of Jesus is celebrating an Ignatian Year. The Year began in May and will continue through July of 2022 concluding on St. Ignatius' feast day. The Office of Mission and Identity is hosting "Ignatian Conversation" as a way to get to know the Jesuits who serve the Mission of the University through their vocation as Jesuits, men who have given their life to the Mission of Ignatius.
