CADR Opens New Sensory Room Funded Through Innovation Grant

01/20/2022

In conjunction with the Department of Occupational Sciences and Occupational Therapy and the Dean of Students Office, the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources (CADR) has opened a new sensory room.

The sensory room, developed through a grant from the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA), provides additional resources for students with disabilities and their sensory needs.

To create more support and service to the diverse student population at SLU, Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources Director Kendra Johnston, Assistant Dean of Students Andrew Erdmann, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Sarah Zimmerman were awarded an Innovation Grant from JASPA to develop and create a sensory room.

The sensory room provides students with disabilities, registered through CADR, a therapeutic space to address sensory needs and a safe space to self-regulate emotions and over-stimulation. To inquire about using the Sensory Room, please contact the Sensory Room email at cadrsensoryroom@gmail.com.
