2022-23 Chaifetz Fellows Announced

The Chaifetz Entrepreneurship Fellows Program in the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University has three new fellows for 2022-23.
The 2022-2023 academic year will see the 15th cohort of Chaifetz Fellows across the Saint Louis University campus. SLU is one of the nation's top schools for entrepreneurship with over 200 courses across 20-plus departments.
Started as the Coleman Fellows Program in 2008, the fellowships support entrepreneurship education at SLU, offering faculty or staff $2,500 to create entrepreneurship-related courses, course content, or co-curricular activities during the 2022-2023 year.
The three new fellows are all in the STEM fields. The researchers and their projects are:
- Jeff Ma, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Connecting students to local businesses to develop automation projects for the Mechatronics course
- Mark McQuilling, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Entrepreneurship-focused module for the Engineering Experimentation course.
- Jalil Kianfar, Ph.D., civil, computer and electrical engineering. Entrepreneurship-focused module and project for the roadway-safety class.
To date, more than 100 undergraduate and 100 graduate courses across the SLU campus have embedded entrepreneurship skills, one of the highest numbers in the nation according to The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine.
In addition to the three new Fellows, nine Veteran Fellows will receive $1,000 grants to reinforce and expand their existing work infusing their classes with entrepreneurial ideas and skills. They are:
- Dan Brewer, nutrition and dietetics. Student-project seed funding for the Innovations in Dietetics class.
- Sri Condoor, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Include entrepreneurial content to the Mechatronics Systems Design.
- Dannielle Davis, Ph.D., higher education administration. Incorporate research apps into the business-plan exercise in the Qualitative Research in Education class.
- Jenna Gorlewicz, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Create a program and faculty workshop on entrepreneurial mindset learning.
- Sri Gururajan, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Continued support of student design teams in the AirCRAFT Lab.
- Jin Huang, Ph.D., social work. Adding financial capability content to help social work students support their low-income clients to initiate entrepreneurship.
- Ray Le Beau, Ph.D., aerospace and mechanical engineering. Create assessment tools linking ABET accreditation outcomes to entrepreneurial activities.
- Mike Markee, DPT, physical therapy and athletic training. Continuing the speaker series and in-class competition in Applied Administration and Management.
- Scott Sell, Ph.D., biomedical engineering. Creating a student research program incorporating entrepreneurial thinking.
