Office of the Vice President for Research to Honor Researchers at Annual Reception

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) will honor the work of faculty members and research administrators at its annual Scholarly Works and Grant Winner Reception on Wednesday, May 18.
The annual ceremony celebrates research excellence and recognizes success in publications or pieces and in grant submissions from the previous year. Winners will be recognized for works and grants from 2020 and 2021.
This event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Sinquefield Room located in DuBourg Hall, Room 409.
All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to join in the celebration. The reception will begin at 3 p.m. with the program beginning shortly after in the Sinquefield Room located in DuBourg Hall, Room 409.
The program will present awards to the Scholarly Works winners followed by presentations to Grant Winner awards. President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., and Provost Michael Lewis, Ph.D., will share their remarks at the event and join in honoring these outstanding members of the SLU community.
2020 Scholarly Works Honorees
- Jack Renard, Ph.D., (Theological Studies), for his book, Crossing Confessional Boundaries: Exemplary Lives in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Traditions, published by the University of California Press.
- Joya Uraizee, Ph.D., (English), for her book, Writing that Breaks Stones: African Child Soldier Narratives, published by the Michigan State University Press.
- Ruqaiijah Yearby, J.D., (School of Law), for Protecting Workers that Provide Essential Services, in the comprehensive report, Assessing Legal Responses to COVID-19, published by Public Health Law Watch.
- Ted Mathys, (English), for his book of poetry, Gold Cure, published by the Coffee House Press.
- Daniela Salvemini, Ph.D., (Department of Pharmacological and Physiological Science), for her article published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
- Cara Wallace, Ph.D., (School of Social Work), for her article published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.
