Sazón Showcase Scheduled for Saturday

11/08/2022

The Sazón Showcase, an immersive dance and Latine experience, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Center for Global Citizenship. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m.

The theme is Día De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead.

The event is being hosted by Sazón (the Latin Rhythms dance team at SLU) in collaboration with the Simon Recreation Center, KSLU, and Oasis (representing Caribbean, Latin American, and Hispanic students). Dancers will perform routines from a variety of different genres including Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha-Cha, and more.

The showcase is free to attend. Registration in advance is optional, but it guarantees reserved seating. Walk-ins are permitted.

The goal of the event is to recognize the diverse study body at SLU, increase cultural awareness, promote physical and mental wellness on campus through dance, and celebrate Day of the Dead. The event will attempt to create an immersive environment exposing students to the Spanish language through international songs and lyrics.

Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of background or Spanish-speaking ability.
