SLU Taekwondo Win Medals at the 2022 Midwest Open Taekwondo Championship

The SLU Taekwondo club brought home a total of nine medals from the 2022 Midwest Open Taekwondo Championships, held this weekend in Decatur, IL. This was the club’s first ever university-sponsored competition since its formation in 2019.
Six club members competed in their respective Olympic-style sparring (kyorugi) and forms (poomsae) divisions, all in the 17-32 age bracket.
White/yellow/orange belts, male division
- Anupam Thapa - 2nd place, lightweight sparring; 2nd place, forms
- Donovan Thomas - 3rd place, lightweight sparring
- Terrell Earl - 1st place, heavyweight sparring
- Keegan Buckthorpe - 3rd place, heavyweight sparring; 3rd place, forms
White/yellow/orange belts, female division
- Claire Nal - 1st place, lightweight sparring
Red/brown belts, male division
- San Kwon - 1st place, lightweight sparring; 1st place, forms
