Med Reunion Weekend Held In Person

For the first time since 2019, the Saint Louis School of Medicine hosted an in-person Med Reunion.

The event welcomed around 200 School of Medicine alumni and their guests. Classes celebrated were 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2017. Also welcomed were the classes of 1966, 1970, 1971, and 1981 who had to reschedule their reunion celebrations because  of COVID.

The weekend was filled with various activities where classmates could reconnect and mingle with one another. On Friday, Oct. 14, at the Preston in the Chase Park Plaza, a Welcome Reception was held, followed by class dinners in various restaurants throughout the Central West End.

Saturday had activities on the Medical Campus, including a breakfast, CME, School of Medicine tour led by current students, and a Meet the Dean Lunch, where Dean Christine Jacobs, M.D., had the opportunity to meet the alumni and provide updates about the School of Medicine. Current student Rebecca Cunningham also shared her experience as a current Med Student at the lunch.

As part of the events on Saturday, the School of Medicine hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Lo Family Team Learning Center in the 360 classroom of the Learning Resource Center where remarks were made by Jacobs, Chad Miller, M.D.,  Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education; and current student Erika Schmidt.

Patrick Lo, whose name is on this room and whose daughter graduated from SLU med in 2011, was in attendance. He is a member of the University Board of Trustees and a supporter of the University and the School of Medicine.  

A special Wall Dedication and reception also took place on Saturday. The event revealed a new Surgery Wall in the SLUCare Academic Pavilion, showcasing years of monumental surgical achievements that have taken place with the surgery department. Special remarks were made by  Jacobs, Sameer Siddiqui, M.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery, and the C. Rollins Hanlon Endowed Chair of Surgery; and Susan Willman, M.D. Willman was celebrating her reunion and is part of a family legacy that played a monumental role within the department of surgery.
