Fresh Check Day is Wednesday
09/05/2022
Fresh Check Day is designed to be an uplifting mental well-being and suicide prevention event that includes interactive booths, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. It will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the quad.
The event is part of National Suicide Prevention Week (September 6-10, 2022). This program promotes awareness, prevention and education in support of students’ mental health and holistic well-being.
In working with the Fall Welcome planning committee and well-being experts on campus, organizers have landed on Fresh Check Day as one initiative to implement during this week. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about well-being and helps to build a bridge between students and the resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally. Think about Fresh Check Day like a campus community wellness fair.
All students are welcome. There will be prizes included an Amazon Fire TV Cube, an Amazon Fire tablet and a weighted blanket. There also will be giveaways including a T-shirt and food.
A number of SLU departments will be involved with Fresh Check Day including Student Development Leadership, Campus Ministry, Department of Public Safety, Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards, Campus Recreation and Wellness, Cross Cultural Center, Student Involvement, Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX (Title IX), Student Health Center, Department of Athletics and the Dean of Students.
