Learning Communities Seeking Speakers for LC Ed Talks
09/01/2022
The Learning Communities program is seeking faculty and staff presenters for the bi-annual Ed Talks. LC Ed Talks is a program where faculty and staff from around the University are invited to speak Ted Talk-style on a topic of interest or a passion area to first-year students.
Each semester, the Ed Talks program explores a larger concept from multiple viewpoints academically. The theme for this semester's Ed Talks is "Fostering Wellness in Mind, Body, and Spirit."
Currently the Learning Communities are looking for two to four speakers to speak about a topic connecting to wellness for about 10 minutes. Anyone interested is invited to fill out this brief Google form. The form will be open until September 9 at noon.
The Learning Outcomes for the program are as follows:
As a result of attending LC Ed Talks, students will be able to:
- Identify how the concepts of mind, body, and spirit connect to wellness.
- Articulate how the concept of wellness exists in a curricular and co-curricular context.
- Identify the importance of fostering and maintaining wellbeing in their own lives.
- Identify supports available on campus to aid in wellness.
Anyone interested in helping or who has any thoughts of speakers who would help student learn and explore wellness in a wholistic lens should reach out. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the Learning Communities team at lc@slu.edu.
