Introduction to the Spiritual Exercises Begins October 4
09/29/2022
At a Jesuit University, many people speak of St. Ignatius and the Spiritual Exercises. The Spiritual Exercises grew out of St. Ignatius’ experience of prayer and discernment, his desire to grow in relationship with God, and discern God ‘s will.
As he grew in prayer, he began to discern what in his spirit was from good inspiration and what was from bad. Traditionally the Spiritual Exercises are arranged in four “weeks,” steps in a spiritual journey of discernment and meeting God.
These exercises free the soul to encounter God in all things. The University community is invited to a brief introduction to the four weeks of these Spiritual Exercises on each of the four Tuesdays in October.
- Tuesday, Oct. 4: The Principle and Foundation & Imagination
- Tuesday, Oct. 11: The Incarnation & Discernment of Spirits
- Tuesday, Oct. 18: The Paschal Mystery & Consolation
- Tuesday, Oct. 25: Our Life in Christ & Contemplation
Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and join us in the Busch Student Center, Room 254 at noon.
