Norman A. White Lecture Featuring Precious Barry Will Be April 26

The lecture, presented by the School of Social Work, will feature Precious Barry, a youth activist and entrepreneur. The lecture will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, in the Sinquefield Room. 

Barry work to motivate thousands of youth to exercise their voice and speak on issues that young black and brown communities face. As a senior at Riverview Gardens High School, she serves as a student representative on the Board of Education advocating for educational equality for all.

This lecture event is held annually in honor of the late Dr. Norman White. He held the position of Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice from 2004 to 2017 at SLU and was nationally recognized as an activist and scholar before his sudden passing.

The evening also will feature awards for outstanding adjunct faculty members and Young and Distinguished Alumni awards in School of Social Work fields. The lecture will be followed by a reception with Barry.
