SLU.edu Web Calendar Upgrade Scheduled for Monday
12/14/2023
The University's web calendar software will be upgraded on Monday, and it is expected to be offline for a window of approximately 2-3 hours, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All events that were previously submitted to the calendar will be imported into the new calendar; however, it is recommended, if you have previously submitted events, to verify your events have been successfully transferred to the new system once the upgrade has been completed.
The layout and function of the upgraded calendar's public submission form will change slightly; however, the filtering function will remain available in the new interface.
Web sections of SLU.edu that currently use RSS feeds to display specific events will also be migrated during the upgrade. The backend programming will change but the primary look and feel of the calendar components will not change and will not be visibly different from the current local calendar display. The Marketing and Communications Web Services team will handle all upgrades, and no work will be needed by CMS users.
With the upgrade, the calendar will be directly integrated into the University's Content Management System (CMS), Omni CMS. The calendar interface will be available inside the CMS rather than on a stand-alone platform. The move will allow the calendar to be accessible through Single Sign-on rather than needing a separate username and password.
The primary goal of the upgrade is to replace the current calendar software, which is no longer supported, with a more modern, secure, and functional interface. The new calendar has additional features that can be utilized in future development.
Anyone with questions should contact Mark Rimar, Director of Web Services at mark.rimar@slu.edu. After the upgrade, for any issues regarding the migration of events or any other CMS-related issues, please use the CMS help Form.
