The Jed Foundation to Visit SLU
02/21/2023
As part of Saint Louis University’s ongoing partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED), SLU’s JED Campus Task Force will host campus advisors from JED on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and Thursday, Feb. 23.
The purpose of the campus visit is for SLU's campus advisor (CA) and subject matter expert (SME) to better understand the culture of the institution, the needs of SLU's students, and the unique organizational strengths and challenges that influence the University's work. Additionally, JED staff will collaborate with SLU's team to identify and prioritize a common set of goals that will inform our mental health strategic plan.
During the campus visit, Jed staff will tour SLU’s campus and facilities, conduct student focus groups, meet with the University Counseling Center, Student Health Center, Dean of Students and SLU JED Campus task force. This campus visit will build upon data gathered this past fall from the Healthy Minds Survey and SLU self-assessment completed by the task force.
As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the mental health and well-being of every student, Saint Louis University has established a new partnership with a leading organization that’s been working to save the lives of young people nationally for more than two decades.
SLU is partnering with the Jed Foundation (JED) to become an official JED Campus. The non-profit’s nationwide initiative helps schools evaluate and strengthen their mental health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention programs and systems.
The partnership was announced in October.
The Jed Foundation is a leading non-profit organization focused on helping universities like ours evaluate and strengthen their mental health, substance misuse and suicide prevention programs. Becoming a JED Campus means SLU will spend the next four years working with the Jed Foundation to understand how to better use existing resources, where to add more, and most importantly, how to foster a stronger culture of well-being, hope and resilience that is systemic and lasting.
