SLU Professor Taking Part in Panel on African Art in America

Bukky Gbadegesin, Ph.D., associate professor of art history at Saint Louis University, will participate in a panel on African Art in America.

The event will be at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum.
As part of the opening festivities for African Modernism in America, Gbadegesin will join exhibition co-curators Perrin Lathrop and Jamaal Sheats for a discussion exploring the histories of collecting and displaying modern African art in the United States.
The discussion will include the 1961 landmark exhibition Art from Africa of Our Time organized by the Harmon Foundation, and the role of Fisk University in exhibiting African artists of the mid-twentieth century.
The event is free and open to the public.
