SLU Music Program Presents Liam Brown Piano Recital

The SLU Music Program of the Visual and Performing Arts Department will present Liam Brown in a piano recital. The performance will occur on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Xavier Hall Recital Studio (Room 348).
Brown, a graduate student in piano performance at Butler University, graduated from SLU with a Bachelor of Arts in piano performance. As the graduate assistant for collaborative piano, he accompanies solo vocalists, conductors, choirs, and performs with chamber ensembles.
Brown also is an active music teacher at the Butler Community Arts School. He was the 2021 recipient of the Arion Award in Music for his outstanding performance and studies in the SLU Music program.
A solo performer, collaborative pianist, and pedagogue, Brown received the Arion Award for Outstanding Graduating senior. In March of 2022 he placed first in Butler University’s Pi Kappa Lambda’s annual solo music competition with his performance of Caprice Sur la Romance de Joconde by Maria Szymanowska. He will graduate from Butler with a Master of Music in May of 2023.
As a collaborative pianist Brown accompanies vocalists and instrumentalists at Butler University. He has been an active member of chamber groups, including recent performances of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor and Caprice on Danish and Russian Airs by Saint-Saens. In 2023 he became the accompanist for the Butler University Chorale, where performed the entirety of Margaret Bond’s Credo for Chorus and Piano. He is also a regular accompanist at St. Monica and St. Barnabas Catholic Churches in Indianapolis.
Brown is an active member of the Butler Community Arts School (BCAS) where he teaches private piano lessons. During the summer of 2022, he was a team leader at BCAS art camps and piano camps, where he taught private lessons, music theory, and general music skills. In 2021 he served as a piano Teaching Assistant at Interlochen camp for the arts.
