Reinert Center Offers Summer Faculty Development Opportunities

05/05/2023

The Reinert Center is offering two professional development opportunities for faculty this summer in the form of two different institutes:

Course Design Institute

Are you designing a new course? Have you been thinking about ways to redesign a course you have taught for several semesters? Are you thinking about creating or recreating a course for the University Core? Are you changing several aspects of a course as part of a departmental or programmatic curriculum redesign?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, CDI might be for you!

The Course Design Institute (CDI) is a one-week immersive experience that will spark new ways of thinking about your course, empower you to prioritize what matters most to you, and help you to create clear learning paths for students.

Most CDI participants leave with 80-90% of their courses designed.

Culturally Responsive Teaching Institute

To support SLU full- and part-time faculty in their work with international students, the Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning has relaunched the Culturally Responsive Teaching Institute (CRTI) – aimed at helping instructors expand their understanding of cultural variations in teaching and learning practice and preparing for culturally diverse classrooms.

The program is a five-day summer institute (July 31 -August 4) and continues with optional Community of Practice meetings during the academic year.

Participants are supported by the Provost’s office through a financial incentive ($750 stipend or professional development funds, distributed after the Institute).
