Grand Boulevard Community Art Exhibit Opens Friday
11/16/2023
The Studio Art Program is hosting an opening reception of the Grand Boulevard Community Art Exhibit. This first-ever juried community exhibit opens on Friday, November 17 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM in the McNamee Gallery of Cupples House.
Grand Boulevard is a major north-south St. Louis thoroughfare running from Carondelet Park in the south, to the McKinley Bridge and Mississippi River in the north. It intersects many of the city's neighborhoods, including Dutchtown, Tower Grove East, Tower Grove South, Compton Heights, Tiffany, Midtown (home of Saint Louis University!), Jeff-Vander-Lou, Fairground, and College Hill.
The Grand Avenue (70) Metro bus travels the length of Grand Boulevard and has the largest ridership in the system. The intention of the chosen topic, Grand Boulevard, is not to literally drive the work, but to be a spark as what the artists consider Grand Boulevard and its place in the city, and/or their life.
The opening is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The Grand Boulevard Community Art Exhibit will run through Friday, Dec. 8, in the lower level of historic Cupples House. For complete gallery hours, contact richard.a.dunn@slu.edu.
